If it is the service engine light it means the car needs servicing. Get "er done! If it is the check engine light, that has to do with emissions. Check the gas cap to see if its on properly. If the light does not turn off after a couple of days get it scanned it may be a sensor.

I’d just turn it off and restart — works for Microsoft, no reason it shouldn’t for Dodge….

yes you do need the code reader that one of the auto parts store has. one of them here will read it for you for nothing. I can allready tell you what the problem is. your running low on bank one and two. I just keep turning mine off right now. But I don’t think you turn it off with the egnition switch.

You need a code reader or use a dealer ship, a coder reader is cheaper. you can purchase one for about $72.00 and you will always have it at hand.

No, service engine light is emmission control. Buy a Haynes repair manual for you year and model. May need a simple air filter change.

Should be able to do it with the switch, and look up what the code means online.

Is this the check engine light?? or service engine soon light??
The check light will need an OBD2 devise to reset the computer. You can try to disconnect the neg battery clamp for a minute. This will sometimes reset the computer also.

Need code reader. O.B.D.II cannot be shut off otherwise, Unless problem is fixed, and a pre-determined on-off cycles are performed

  • Tony Lo:

Yes, cause the light is on for some reason,so you need to know which reason
